We are excited to welcome Katherine M. Whipple, M.D. to the Reed Eye Associates. She is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained in Orbital and Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Whipple was born and raised in Webster, NY where her family still resides. She attended the State University of New York at Geneseo, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at the top of her class. Dr. Whipple went on to earn her Medical degree at New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. After completing her internship year at Aultman Hospital in Canton,OH she headed west to complete her residency in ophthalmology at the University of California at San Diego. It was here she earned several research and academic honors, culminating in her being named Chief Resident in 2010.
After completing her residency, she spent an additional two years at the University of California at San Diego to complete a prestigious and highly sought after fellowship in Orbital and Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Her fellowship exposed her in depth to every part of orbital, lacrimal, and eyelid surgery, including learning the very latest techniques. This included advanced training in aesthetic techniques and rejuvenation treatments. During her fellowship, she completed thousands of reconstructive and aesthetic surgeries. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, published numerous chapters, spoken internationally at scientific meetings, and even developed a novel technique to rejuvenate the aging eyebrows. She is well respected by her colleagues and looked up to by the residents she trained, even receiving the Teacher of the Year Award during her fellowship.
With exciting opportunities to practice all over the country, Dr. Whipple has decided to do what she has dreamed of doing since she was young. She has chosen to return to her hometown and treat the community she grew up loving. She is excited to work at the Reed Eye Associates and looks forward to meeting with you.
