Ophthalmologist Ronald Reed, MD, along with our optometrists, opticians, and staff here in Sodus work closely as a team to provide you with the highest level of eye care and service. Dr Reed received his bachelor degree in mathematics from Colgate University, his medical degree from the University of Connecticut. He did extensive medical research in the areas of control of brain blood flow, stroke therapy and endotoxin shock. He remains the only medical student ever invited to be the guest speaker to the Society of University Surgeons. He developed a technique to measure blood brain flow. He was asked by Dr. DeBakey, the noted heart surgeon, to share his work with their research team. He was the guest of National Public Radio and Radio-Free Europe. His work is published in Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Surgery, Surgery Gynecology and Obstetrics and textbook “Thyroid”. Dr. Reed practiced Emergency Room Medicine for 2 years. Dr. Reed was an Ophthalmology Resident at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He was the recipient of the James Slipman Award for outstanding research at Wills Eye Hospital.
Reed Eye Associates Founder and Medical Director, Dr. Ronald Reed has earned a reputation for excellence as one of the nation’s leading cataract and lens replacement surgeons, performing over 25,000 cataract surgeries. Dr. Reed has taught cataract surgery around the world.
Dr. Reed was born in New York City. He has lived the majority of his life in Rochester. Having raised three children, he and his wife Krista reside in Rochester with their two Havanese dogs, Carlos and Tomas.
Patricia Weisenreder, OD
Patricia Weisenreder, OD, attended Rockford College in Illinois, followed by SUNY College of Optometry in Manhattan. Although she has a special interest in children’s vision, her patients range from under one year of age to over ninety.
Dr. Weisenreder, grew up in the Buffalo area and currently resides in Webster. In between work and family activities, she tries to sneak in a good book, a crossword puzzle, or a creative project.
Perry Halvatzis, OD practices Optometry in Pittsford and Sodus, New York. He has been with Reed Eye Associates for 13 years.
He grew up in Webster, New York and graduated from R.L. Thomas High School. He attended St. John Fisher College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then went on to Philadelphia to receive a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
His free time is spent with his family, reading and playing the saxophone.
James Crable, OD has practiced Optometry in the Rochester area since 1987. He has been with Reed Eye Associates from 1995 t0 2001 practicing at the Sodus and Pittsford locations. Dr. Crable returned to Reed Eye Associates in July 2010 and is seeing patients at the Sodus and Irondequoit locations. He provides eye health exams, contact lens care, treatment of ocular disease and postoperative care.
Dr. Crable earned his BA in Zoology from SUNY Oswego in 1979. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1983. After completing his degree he served in the US Army Reserves and retired from the Reserves in 2006.
Dr. Crable is a member of the American Optometric Association, New York State Optometric Association and the Rochester Optometric Society.
Craig Willoth, OD
Craig Willoth, OD graduated with a Doctor of Optometry from Ohio State University in 1968 and has done graduate work at St. John Fisher toward an MBA. He served as captain and clinic director in the Air Force at McDill AFB. He was in a private group practice for twenty-nine years before joining Reed Eye Associates fifteen years ago.
Dr Willoth is a past president of the Rochester Optometric Society and the New York State Optometric Association. He is a member of the American Optometric Association serving on and chairing numerous committees, project teams and commissions. He is a past member and chairman of the New York State Education Department, State Board of Optometry. He is a charter member of the Contact Lens section of the AOA.
Dr. Willoth resides in Ontario, NY. He is married with two daughters and three grandchildren. He and his wife enjoy travel with recent trips to Europe, Egypt,China and South America. He enjoys wine and gourmet dining.
Dr. Willoth cares for patients at the Irondequoit location except Fridays, where you will find him at the Sodus location.
