Ronald R. Reed, MD

Ronald R. Reed, MD

Ronald R. Reed, MD, received his bachelor degree in mathematics from Colgate University, his medical degree from the University of Connecticut.  He did extensive medical research in the areas of control of brain blood flow, stroke therapy and endotoxin shock.  He remains the only medical student ever invited to be the guest speaker to the Society of University Surgeons.  He developed a technique to measure blood brain flow.  He was asked by Dr. DeBakey, the noted heart surgeon, to share his work with their research team.  He was the guest of National Public Radio and Radio-Free Europe.  His work is published in Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Surgery, Surgery Gynecology and Obstetrics and textbook “Thyroid”.  Dr. Reed practiced Emergency Room Medicine for 2 years.  Dr. Reed was an Ophthalmology Resident at the world renowned Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.  He was the recipient of the James Slipman Award for outstanding research at Wills Eye Hospital.

Reed Eye Associates Founder and Medical Director, Dr. Ronald Reed has earned a reputation for excellence as one of the nation’s leading cataract and lens replacement surgeons, performing over 25,000 cataract surgeries.  Dr. Reed has taught cataract surgery around the world.

Dr. Reed was born in New York City.  He has lived the majority of his life in Rochester.  Having raised three children, he and his wife Krista reside in Rochester with their two Havanese dogs, Carlos and Tomas.


 Alan F. Bloom, MD

Alan F. Bloom, MD

Alan F. Bloom, MD received his undergraduate degree from Yale University in 1979 and his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine in 1983.  He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in 1987.  He has been a partner at Reed Eye Associates since 1987.

Dr. Bloom specializes in cataract surgery, laser treatments, and medical eye care.  He has performed over 24,000 cataract surgeries since joining Reed Eye Associates.

In his free time, Dr. Bloom is an avid cyclist and golfer.  When he’s not stuck in a sand trap or searching for a lost ball in the woods, he is generally out fly fishing, and has recently published a fishing short story in “Gray’s Sporting Journal”.

Alan Gruber, MD

Alan Gruber, MD, was raised in Brighton and graduated from Northwestern University. He returned to his hometown to attend the University of Rochester School of Medicine before moving on to San Francisco, where he completed his internship at Mt. Zion Hospital and then to New York, where he did his residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He then went to Boston to undertake a fellowship in oculoplastics at the Boston Eye Research Institute.

Dr. Gruber made a second homecoming in 1986 and joined the Rochester Ophthalmological Group. He was appointed to the University of Rochester clinical faculty and named clinical assistant professor. Over the course of his tenure at the U of R Medical Center, he has helped train medical students in fundamentals of ophthalmology and eye residents in ophthalmic plastic surgery.

With extensive experience in all areas of ophthalmology, Dr. Gruber maintains a busy and medical and surgical practice, treating patients of all ages. Dr. Gruber is a specialist in cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, including cosmetic enhancements and corrections using Botox, tearing problems, and orbit surgery. He has served as the chief of the ophthalmology service at the Westfall Surgery Center. 

Dr. Gruber is currently seeing patients at the Pittsford office.

Douglas Williams, OD

After growing up in Webster, Dr. Williams completed his education at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.   Here he graduated cum laude with his B.S (Pre-Med). in 1977 and M.S. (Biochemistry) in 1979.  Dr. Williams pursued his doctorate in optometry at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  He graduated with honors in 1983. 

Dr. Williams first met Dr. Reed in 1983 during his last externship at the Wilson Health Center.  After serving in the 1st Calvary Division at Ft. Hood, Texas, earning the meritorious service medal, Dr. Williams joined Reed Eye Associates in 1987.  For over 25 years his practice focuses on primary care, contact lenses, emergent care and post-operative care.

During his leisure time he enjoys gardening, reading, and attending local sporting events.  Dr. Williams has three adult children and three grandsons.

Dennis Lynch, OD

Dennis Lynch, OD went to school at SUNY Geneseo and attended graduate school at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  After graduating, he served in the military at Fort Bragg, NC.  In 1985 he came to Rochester to work at the Wilson Medical Center where he worked with Reed Eye Associates.  

While at the Wilson center he had the privilege of serving as Chief of Services for several years.  He now sees patients exclusively at our Kreag Rd. office located in Pittsford.

I settled and raised my family (including turtles, fish, cat and dog) in Webster (“Where life is worth living”), and enjoys nature reading, music, kayaking and taking care of patients.

John TC Chu, OD, FAAO

John TC Chu, OD, FAAO

John TC Chu, OD, came to the United States from Hong Kong at a young age to pursue his education.  He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York, College of Optometry in 1978.  Dr. Chu began his Optometry career in Rochester in 1980

Dr. Chu and his wife Betty, have three sons. They are graduates of Sutherland High School and played varsity soccer for the Knights. Dr. Chu loves the beautiful game of soccer.

I am an avid fan of: Manchester United (20 times Premier League champions), Liverpool (“You’ll never walk alone”), Spurs (Gareth Bale, best left foot), PSG (David Beckham, best right foot) and yes the Bills (best NFL team in New York).  And let’s not forget, the human eye blinks approximately 11,000 times per day which equals over 4,000,000 times per year.  They are working hard for you, so support them, too, as well as take good care of them.

Charles Ellermeyer, OD, grew up in western Pennsylvania and received his undergraduate degree from Saint Vincent College and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.  He moved to Rochester in 1983 and has been fortunate to be a member of Reed Eye Associates since 1984.  And "Its has been a privilege to be part of such a dedicated team in providing the best in eye care."

He has served as a clinical contact lens investigator and was an optometric board examiner for the Pennsylvania Board of Optometry.

Dr. Ellermeyer and his wife Therese have two daughters who are currently in college.  He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, the Steelers and all outdoor activities.

Dr. Ellermeyer provides comprehensive care at our offices in Greece and Pittsford.


Kelly Farrar, OD

Kelly Farrar, OD, was raised in Warrensburg, New York. She received a Bachelor of Science from St. John Fisher College during her undergraduate studies. Dr. Farrar earned her Doctorate of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1996. During that time she received honors in externships at Suburban General Hospital, Norristown, PA and at the Retina and Diabetic Eye Institute, Havertown, PA.

Dr. Farrar has practiced in both Massachusetts and New York. She has been living and working in the Monroe/Wayne/Ontario county area for the last fourteen years. Dr. Farrar lives with her husband and son in Webster. She enjoys horseback riding, photography, and Kuk Sool Won, a Korean martial art in which she earned her black belt in 2011.

 Mark Parsons, OD, FAAO

Mark Parsons, OD, FAAO 

Dr. Mark Parsons received his bachelor of science in biology from St. John Fisher College and his optometry degree with Honors from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University.  He then completed a residency in ocular disease at the VA Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware where he received extensive training in the management and treatment of dry eye, glaucoma, uveitis, macular degeneration, and retinal vascular disease.  Dr. Parsons has co-authored an article on glaucoma during his residency and presented case-reports at the American Academy of Optometry and Excellence in Education Conference at Salus University.

Dr. Parsons was born in Liverpool, NY and is the second son of three boys.  He is an avid New York Yankees and Syracuse Orange fan and enjoys making trips to Syracuse and NYC to watch his two favorite teams.  In his free time, Dr. Parsons enjoys being at the gym, running outside in the warm weather, and spending time with both friends and family.  Dr. Parsons looks forward to meeting you and serving the visual needs of the Rochester Community.

Perry Halvatzis, OD practices Optometry in Pittsford and Sodus, New York.  He has been with Reed Eye Associates for 13 years.

He grew up in Webster, New York and graduated from R.L. Thomas High School.  He attended St. John Fisher College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.  He then went on to Philadelphia to receive a Doctor of Optometry degree from Pennsylvania College of Optometry.

His free time is spent with his family, reading and playing the saxophone.

Raj Trivedi, OD

Raj Trivedi, OD

Raj Trivedi, OD earned his B.S. in Biotechnology from Rochester Institute of Technology, Dr. Trivedi went on to the State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan, New York to obtain his Doctor of Optometry.
He enjoys being an important part of Reed Eye Associates, where great eye care is tempered with compassion and the knowledge that the total health and happiness of each and every patient must be kept in mind.

Outside of clinic Dr. Trivedi enjoys sports, traveling and reading and spending time with his wife and son.

Dr. Trivedi provides full comprehensive eye care at our offices in Greece and Pittsford locations.

 Patricia Weisenreder, OD

Patricia Weisenreder, OD

Patricia Weisenreder, OD, attended Rockford College in Illinois, followed by SUNY College of Optometry in Manhattan.  Although she has a special interest in children’s vision, her patients range from under one year of age to over ninety. 

Dr. Weisenreder, grew up in the Buffalo area and currently resides in Webster. In between work and family activities, she tries to sneak in a good book, a crossword puzzle, or a creative project.

Dr. Weisenreder cares for patients at the Irondequoit, Pittsford and Sodus locations.

 Kimberly Rosati, OD

Kimberly Rosati, OD

Kimberly Rosati, OD, has always had a passion for optometry since a young age.  Having multiple family members who were legally blind quickly taught her the importance of eyesight.

Dr. Rosati attended the State University of New York at Binghamton where she graduated with a degree in Biological Sciences with honors.  Dr. Rosati went on to optometry school at the State University of New York College of optometry where she completed two externships in upstate New York, one at the Syracuse Veterans hospital and the other in Rochester at the Association for the blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI).  Dr. Rosati was inducted into the optometric honor society Beta Sigma Kappa as well. After optometry school, Dr. Rosati completed her residency at the West Haven Veterans hospital in ocular pathology and low vision.

Dr. Rosati currently resides in Rochester, NY. In her spare time, Dr. Rosati enjoys spending time with her family, playing piano and traveling.
